Brenda
Farrell
President,
Brenda Farrell Research
Brenda Farrell is a seasoned market
researcher with a special interest in
food, health and communications. Over
the course of her 21 year career, she
has conducted thousands of focus groups
and in-depth interviews with younger
and older adults. She considers herself
privileged to have been privy to their
inner beliefs and opinions as they talked
frankly about their eating habits, their
relationships, their uses -- and abuses
– of products, alcohol and drugs,
their attitudes, their behaviours etc.

As a young mom, Brenda grew herbs and vegetables
and received more than a few scowls when she
served tofu and 100% whole wheat bread to
her then teenage children in the 1980s. Today,
she is known as a keen advocate for healthy
eating and for holding informal Mediterranean-style
dinners that utilize simple, fresh and organic
ingredients, many of them from her own garden
with informal or themed conversation. She
is an avid label reader and stays in touch
with health and food related issues on a daily
basis. Her mission now is to contribute towards
attitudinal change in children so that they
willingly make healthy choices and actively
reject foods saturated with fat, sugar and
additives.
Brenda
is an active member of the Slow Food movement,
which promotes regaining control in our lives
through the food we eat, rejoicing in its
taste, and understanding how it was produced.
She was President of the former Farrell Research
Group which transitioned from large downtown
offices into Brenda Farrell Research, a home-based
office in 2001. Brenda credits her Italian
mom, Maria, for teaching her the meaning of
good food. “Fresh” was –
and is – the constant in her life.
